Ayyampara or Aiyyanpara is located approximately 14 km north to Erattupetta(43 km from Kottayam town). Taxis and KSRTC Buses are available from Erattupetta to Thalanadu. We have to walk 1 km to Ayyampara from Talanadu.
Ayyampara is a huge rocky hill formed by placing each rock on the other from the bottom naturally so that we can descend to some extend to the bottom. The flat rocky plain provides inspiring view of the surroundings and is an excellent point for sunset viewing.
Ayyampara got its name from a beautiful temple of Lord Aiyappa situates on the top of the rock and there is Christian church, both are focused with each other.
It is one of the rare tourist place found in Kottayam district. We can see almost all places in Kottayam district and some areas of Eranakulam and Alapuzha districts from on the top. Avoid journey during thunder season because of its higher altitude.
